It's Saturday, Time For A Long Run
Whelp, it is currently 9:43 am on Saturday Feb 3rd, 2024. I am groggy and propped up like a wilted tomato plant that has been neglected lol. Not sure why that analogy came to mind…
Anyway, Saturdays are the days where I typically peel myself from the cozy bed, fix a small amount of cold brew, slip into my running gear, count my gels, stuff my water flasks into my hydration vest, and carry it all out to the truck. Take one last opportunity to make a number 2 deposit and then say goodbye to my family. And without fail my youngest would reply, “have a good run”. “HAVE a good run”. “Have a GOOD run.” “HAVE A GOOD RUN”. Something about that combination of words always stuck with me. Like, it was instinctual for him to lump together the words Good and Run together in the same sentence. Maybe it’s because I am just an odd one and overthink everything, but I love hearing that from him.
Well, today, and for many following Saturdays, that saying will not be coming from his lips and I will not be following my rhythms of getting ready and out the door for that long run. Here is what I think I will do instead. I am going to use the time I would be running on writing. There is a whole backstory to how I got here. The past week I have been mentally unpacking a lot. Talking through scenarios that led to this point. “But Andy, didn’t you just break your leg? What more could there be to this?” Well my friends, I think there could be a lifetime of components that led to Saturday’s tragic event. My goal with each Saturday post, until I am able to run able, because I know I will be able to, watch! is to deep dive into a category of my life, discover where things became a little off-center and my plan now to reconcile.
So, today’s post is really about the future. It’s the beginning of me defining the roadmap for the next couple of months.
As for photos, I will add in only film scans from previous roll that make sense or are somehow attached to the timeline of the content. I want to keep as much of this analog as possible
Thanks for following along. That’s all for now.
